At Royal Volunteer Fire Department, we're not just first responders — we're the family next door, the friend on call, and the community that watches each other's backs. Whether it's an emergency or a safety check, we show up with everything we've got.
Royal Volunteer Fire Department isn't a government agency you call when things go wrong — it's a family of neighbors who choose to stand ready, every single day, so that no one in Royal or the surrounding areas faces a crisis alone.
Every one of our firefighters, paramedics, and support staff gives their time, their training, and their heart to this community. We train relentlessly because the people we serve are the people we love. From structure fires and vehicle extrications to medical emergencies and natural disaster response, we bring the same dedication to every call — because every call matters to someone we know by name.
Every member gives freely — no salary, just commitment to Royal and northeast Nebraska.
Our volunteers hold current certifications in firefighting, EMT, and hazardous materials response.
We live here, shop here, and send our kids to school here. Royal is why we answer the call.
From emergency response to prevention programs, we cover every angle of community safety — because protecting a town means more than showing up when the alarm sounds.
Structure fires, vehicle fires, brush and wildland incidents — our trained volunteers respond rapidly to protect life and property across Royal and neighboring communities.
Our certified EMTs and paramedics provide rapid medical response, stabilizing patients on scene and coordinating transport when needed — around the clock, every day of the year.
Whether it's a chemical spill, gas leak, or traffic accident with hazardous cargo, our hazmat-trained crew responds with the equipment and expertise to secure the scene safely.
When someone is trapped, seconds count. Our vehicle rescue team is trained and equipped with hydraulic tools to safely extract victims from damaged vehicles at accident scenes.
We believe the best emergency is the one that never happens. Our team visits schools, senior centers, and community events to teach fire safety, smoke alarm maintenance, and escape planning.
Lost hikers, missing persons, and disaster scenarios — our search and rescue volunteers coordinate with county and state agencies to locate and recover individuals in challenging terrain.
We don't just respond to calls. We host pancake breakfasts, run open-house events, sponsor youth programs, and show up at every town gathering. Being part of Royal Volunteer Fire Department means being part of something bigger than yourself — a network of people who genuinely care about each other.
No experience required — we provide all training. If you can show up with heart, we'll teach you the rest.
Donations keep our equipment maintained, our training current, and our doors open for the community.
Fire drills, open houses, parades, and fundraisers — come meet the crew and see the apparatus up close.
See something unsafe? Need a safety inspection? Call us — we'd rather hear from you than surprise you.
"The best emergency response is a community that looks out for each other. That's what we've built here in Royal — and we're just getting started."
